COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo., Oct. 13 /U.S. Newswire/ -- Focus on the Family Action Gambling Analyst Chad Hills today issued the following statement response to President Bush signing into law the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act, which was included in the Safe Port Act:
"By approving this legislation, our government has protected the nation's families from predatory online casinos, which have addicted many Americans, especially college students.
"We thank Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist, Sen. Jon Kyl, Rep. Jim Leach and Rep. Bob Goodlatte for persevering for seven years to see this legislation enacted. Through their efforts and those of many others, foreign online casinos will no longer mock federal and state laws already prohibiting online gambling. It's clear that Congress and our president have put the best interests of American families ahead of the gambling cartel."
